Hi, I'm Audrey

I am an artist, musician, and mom living in small town Jonesboro, Indiana with my husband, three rascally boys, cat, parakeet, and numerous small creatures carried into the house by the kids. Life is sweet over here in the cornfields.

I started Back Creek Pottery in the shed behind the house in 2010, and ran it as a full time production pottery studio, mixed with intermittent ceramics teaching gigs. Several years in, having kids both slowed my production and unexpectedly expanded my creative horizons. I began feeling the need for other creative outlets ('cause I don't know if you've ever mixed babies and wheelthrowing, but let me tell you it's not easy), and felt my way into watercolor and oil painting.

Music has been a consistent background to my story. I am a violinist and worship leader, recently graduating from 10,000 Fathers worship school. This undercurrent of musical immersion has made for a surprising and lovely channel of creative energy.

These days I'm not fully committed to any one medium, rather I am a committed maker, finding myself moving between the three-dimensions of pottery, to the two-dimensions of painting, to conceptual songwriting work. I find that there is great similarity in all forms of creating; consistency, craftsmanship, beauty. The elements and principals of design often hold true in the musical world. Most of all,  I want to keep being surprised and delighted by what comes from my hands - it is all a gift.
